Fine Line News Letter Q4 2008

The fourth quarter of 2008 began amidst plenty of bad financial news worldwide. It seems there were enough scoundrels out there trying to make a quick fortune at the expense of most everybody else. Unfortunately, they mostly succeeded. It is uncertain what the long term fallout will be, but so far, it hasn’t impacted the field of industrial process controls in The Northwest.
October sales have been as good as the weather and the weather has been terrific! Let’s hope we all get through these tense economic times smoothly and with little or no pain.

Speaking of which, I recently attended the ISA show in Houston and, though I know that Galveston is still hurting, I found the city of Houston to be well on its way to recovery from Hurricane Ike. Let’s hope we all recover from Wall Street’s blunders as quickly and effectively as Houston seems to have recovered from Ike. That would certainly take the sting out of what was otherwise a very splendid year.

Fine Line News Letter Q3 2008

The 4th of July has come and gone, which means that summertime in the great Northwest is upon us. After June-uary finally left us, we are enjoying a more normal Northwest summer, with sunny skies and warm temperatures. This is why we live here….3 months of bliss, though I have friends who can’t wait for the ski areas to once again open. I, for one, can wait!

Though summertime also means a slowdown in business activity, we are fortunate to have a strong and sustaining economy in the Northwest. Our business forecast continues to look good and we anticipate a strong finish to 2008. Many areas of the country are not so lucky. Housing issues, gas prices and other factors have impacted peoples’ lives and I don’t want to take for granted our good fortune. As always, we owe a great deal of gratitude to our customers and our suppliers, who continue to rely on us to help them succeed. Thank you all.

I won’t comment on the current state of our beloved Seattle Mariners, except to say, bring on football!

Fine Line News Letter Q2 2008

2008 started with a bang here in the Northwest. Fine Line enjoyed a very good quarter, in spite of the not so good economic news nationwide. Our region is fortunate to have a breadth of markets, which all in all have survived or thrived. March was a tough month, weather wise and seemed to last forever. We warmly welcome April along with the crack of the bats and the Final Four.

Fine Line has enjoyed their new association with McCrometer and Agar and have participated in several nice projects with these principals. McCrometer’s unique flow sensor has proven to be the answer for a range of flow challenges. The McCrometer sensor offers high turndown, low pressure drop and it requires little or no straight run of pipe. These benefits have solved many problems for several of our customers.

Agar has become a critical tool for many of our refinery customers in the Northwest. With the price of oil so high, it becomes increasingly important for refiners to be able to separate oil from water quickly and efficiently. Agar is the proven choice.

For level or flow measurement, oil separation or chemical metering, water and gas analysis or vision systems, zero leak valves or precision control valves, Fine Line can help. Please visit our website and call one of our sales team members who can ably assist you with all of our products. Go M’s!

Fine Line News Letter Q1 2008

We welcomed in the New Year this year with various illnesses, some natural and some perhaps artificially induced. But here we are after a record breaking 2007. Thank you to all of our great customers (as well as you pretty good ones) for helping to make last year such a banner year. We look forward to another great year this year.

With Matt Browne now working out of his Vancouver WA office, Jack Henderson now manning his Kennewick office and Rob Clemons in his Maple Valley office as always, Fine Line Instrument has the Northwest covered. Lynette, Sylvia and Henri are here in the Redmond office ready to help as well. If the need is for flow control, level or density measurement, liquid or gas analysis, or hazardous flame and gas monitoring, Fine Line has the solution.

In closing, I wish to thank the Seahawks for making the playoffs, the Mariners for trying awful hard to make the playoffs and the Sonics for absolutely nothing. May the Huskies crush the Cougars sometime soon in some sport or other and may all of your instrumentation needs be handled by Fine Line. Happy New Year.
